Soon after his football setback, he discovered his real passion: financial planning.Being close to the sports world (his brother was an NBA star, and he had many friends in the NFL), Brandon saw how athletes earned huge amounts. How Social Media Platform Tonto is Changing Political Discussions Ahead of the 2024 Election

Political discussion is a mainstay on any social media platform. But after the 2020 election, the discussion of censoring those politically focused conversations also started trending. Government leaders amass millions of followers online, turning platforms like Facebook and X (formerly known as Twitter) into a primary news source for the general public. However, according to many users, they lost an opportunity to voice their opinions as censorship rumors spreadacross today’s most popular social platforms. Tonto, a short-form audio platform, promises a space that does not compromise freedom of speech.Founded by CEO Manna Justin, Tonto is working to change the dynamics of political discourse: “Platforms like Twitter are affected by a certain amount of control because of that written political messaging. Sherie’s mainstay, her anchor, is a seemingly modest smartphone app: CamScanner. The U.S. foster care system provides a sanctuary for children facing threats or neglect at home. Warriors add young center on two-way deal

The Warriors signed a former Rockets center in their hunt for a backup big man, but it was not Dwight Howard, whose meeting with the team last week drew interest online.Instead, Golden State has signed Usman Garuba to a two-way contract, meaning he can bounce between the NBA and the Warriors’ G League team in Santa Cruz.Garuba, 21, is a 2021 first-round pick who played backup minutes for Houston last season after splitting time between the NBA and G League as a rookie. He played in 75 games for the Rockets in 2022-23, averaging 12.9 minutes per game. He scored only 3.0 points per game but averaged 4.1 rebounds in those limited minutes. Additionally, one-third of his shot attempts were 3-pointers, and he made 41% of them, though the sample is small (24-of-59).Related ArticlesGolden State Warriors | Want a part of the Warriors? 10% of the ownership stake — for about $700 million — reportedly is up for sale Golden State Warriors | Golden Stat...

BERKELEY — Police here are investigating the theft of a $25,000 sign that was stolen from outside a university dormitory and ended up on the roof of a nearby fraternity house, authorities said.In a Sept. 13 law enforcement operation, UC Berkeley police recovered the sign from the Sigma Chi fraternity at 2345 College Ave., authorities said. The sign had been stolen five days earlier from the Christian Hall dormitory on Durant Avenue, authorities said. While the incident has all the makings of a fraternity prank, UC Berkeley police treated it as a felony investigation. The sign was bolted into the cement and cost roughly $3,000 to install, well past the $400 threshold for felony vandalism in California. With an estimated value of $25,000, it also qualifies as a felony grand theft under state law.The trouble started Sept. 8, when a UC Berkeley employee reported the theft. Four days later, a UC Berkeley student spotted the sign on the Sigma Chi roof. Police say it had been spray pa...

Indian Rasoi takes over Cafe Colucci space in Oakland

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 03:47:04 GMT

Oakland’s upper Temescal District was deprived of a spot for highly spiced foods from across the world when Cafe Colucci, a popular Ethiopian eatery now hosting a Michelin-cred pop-up, departed for a location farther away. That void’s filled at last with the arrival of Indian Rasoi in the old Colucci space at 6427 Telegraph Ave. It’s a colorfully decorated restaurant specializing in the cuisine of Northern India – long-simmered curries, tandoori-grilled meats, hot chai and cold lassi.Rasoi opened earlier this month and on a recent stop-in, appeared to be doing brisk take-out business. A few diners sat in the main room under a rainbow canopy of hanging fabric and inverted umbrellas. A grand opening sign flapped in the wind, beckoning residents in this borderland of Oakland and Berkeley and passing students from the UC campus up the street. The menu has the standard Indian breakdown of appetizers (samosas, pakora, some crispy chaats), biryani, curries (lamb, chicken, s...
